The season ahead of us, summarized

Sometimes I’m too wordy. So I took a crack at summarizing my 2009 football prediction from the last post:

  • The team returns most of its talent and should perform a lot better on “fundamental” metrics, especially offensive yardage, which will improve our net yardage.
  • The way we won games last year, often getting outgained but winning anyway, is not sustainable in the long run.
  • The first point and the second should largely offset in the W-L record, so this season’s record will likely be around last year’s.
  • I’m happy with that. A second minor bowl in succession would be historic, and Bobby Johnson has done a great job improving the team year-to-year. Over time the W-L will take care of itself.
