Later I might post some pointy-headed analytical remarks about this game, or maybe not. For now I just want to record the elation.
And I’m sure the elation is even greater for our team and coaching staff, who proved wrong the pundits and the 90%+ of ESPN’s audience who thought we’d lose to BC. (Brief pointy-headed confession: No doubt whatsoever I was part of the 90%+, at least in the sense that I considered it the more likely outcome.)
First bowl win since 1955. Second bowl win ever. First winning season since 1982. First season with wins over three ranked teams in Vanderbilt history. First Vanderbilt postseason sports event I’ve ever attended that didn’t end horribly.
Wow, what a game. What a microcosm of the whole season, really.
